SFTP (secure File Transfer Protocol) – MOVEit Data Transfer
SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) is a network protocol that allows users to securely transfer files between a local computer and a remote server. SFTP requires a client software and a server software, and uses encryption and authentication to ensure data security and integrity.
- This method is generally used by user wants to take advantage of the automatic data transfer base on a schedule. It is great for Ad-hoc Data Sharing
- Have your own directory on Rush sFTP Server, where user can put files and invite guest, outside Rush Firewall, external collaborators can pick up the files.
- Setup job to send data to a destination on a schedule.
- You can not store the files on the sFTP server.
- The server is used to deliver the files.
- There is a default size restriction.

- Launch the SFTP client software and enter the server address, username, and password in the corresponding fields.
- Click Connect to establish a secure connection with the SFTP server.
- Navigate to the file or folder you want to share on your local computer and drag and drop it to the remote server directory.
- Wait for the file transfer to complete and verify that the file or folder is successfully uploaded to the remote server.
- To stop sharing files or folders using SFTP, follow these steps:
- Launch the SFTP client software and connect to the SFTP server using the same credentials as before.
- Navigate to the file or folder you want to stop sharing on the remote server directory and right-click on it.
- Select Delete from the menu and confirm your action.
- Wait for the file deletion to complete and verify that the file or folder is no longer available on the remote server.
