Information about borrowing via Rush, I-Share, and Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad)

Borrowing materials via Interlibrary Loan

If your request is for immediate patient care, please call us at (312) 942-5950.

Interlibrary loan can be used to request PDFs of journal articles and book chapters and physical items which are not available through the I-Share network. ILLiad is the online interlibrary loan request and delivery system used at RUSH.

To register as an ILLiad user:

  1. In order to use ILLiad, your registration as a borrower must be current. Please note that permission to borrow (and use interlibrary loan) is independent from your ability to access the library's online resources. You can confirm that you are currently registered as a borrower by visiting your My Library Card page. If you are shown a message indicating that your registration has expired, follow the instructions to submit a request to update it.
  2. Go to ILLiad and log in with your RUSH username and password to create your account.

Journal Article and Book Chapter Requests

Journal articles and book chapters are delivered electronically and are free for students, faculty, and staff. Requests may be submitted 24/7 via ILLiad, but are processed during the library's staffed hours. Nearly 80% of requests are filled within 3 business days.

Physical Print Material and Media Requests

Print materials and media requests are free for students, faculty, and staff. Print materials and media are shipped to RUSH through the US Postal Service and commercial carriers, and may take up to 2 weeks for delivery.

Other Media

Dissertations, complete ebooks, and government documents are not normally available via interlibrary loan. If you have a question about a specific request, please contact us via chat or the library's Ask A Question form.

Frequently Asked Questions about ILLiad
