Are you new to the library?

Students are automatically registered as borrowers in advance of their first term, so you do not need to fill out a registration form before requesting or renewing materials. Your borrower registration will be automatically extended for each term in which you are active as a student.

Visit your My Library Card page to view your pending requests, current loans, and to renew RUSH and I-Share materials.

Has your contact information changed?

To update the contact information on your library borrower account, use the Self-Service System to inform the Registrar's Office of any changes. All contact information used by the library is derived from the Registrar's records, and will be updated within 24 hours of a change. 

Are you a RUSH employee as well as a student?

Fill out the Library Borrower Registration form below to inform us of your status as an employee before you graduate to ensure your borrowing privileges are uninterrupted. 

Library materials at RUSH

All registered users of the Library can check out books and other library materials and use the Library’s online resources. For more information about registering as a borrower and your library borowing account, refer to the Your Library Account box above. 

Off-Campus Access

Members of the RUSH University and RUMC community may access Library resources from off campus. RUMC and RUSH University affiliates access the library's online resources with their RUSH credentials.

I-Share

The Library of RUSH University Medical Center is a member of CARLI, a consortium of more than 100 Illinois academic and institutional libraries that offer reciprocal borrowing. I-Share is a free service offered to RUSH University Medical Center personnel through our online catalog. Libraries that participate in this reciprocal agreement in the Chicago area include UIC, UIUC, NEIU, North Park University, Robert Morris University, Roosevelt University, Adler University, SAIC, Elmhurst University, Dominican University, Concordia University, Oakton College, Harper College, DePaul, and IIT.

Interlibrary Loan

You may request, book chapters, and journal articles not available from RUSH via ILLiad, the library's online interlibrary loan system. Access this system along with instructions using the Log in button in the menu above.

The Center for Academic Excellence offers the following services to RUSH University students:

Academic Coaching

• ‌In-person or virtual appointments to help achieve professional goals and aid in academic success
• ‌Assistance with time management skills, study skills and test anxiety 

‌Writing Support 

• ‌Writing support during all stages of writing process including brainstorm, formatting, citations and grammar help 
• ‌Support for English language learners from sentence structure to word choice and pronunciations
• ‌Assistance with course papers, theses, dissertations, personal statements, and CVs/resumes. 

‌Statistics and REDCap Support

• ‌Assistance in statistics coursework 
• ‌Offers refresher sessions on mathematical concepts
• ‌Assistance with SPSS, Excel, and REDCap

Reference librarians can meet with groups of researchers, clinicians, faculty, or students in small group and classroom settings to provide instruction on Library services, the research process, online searching, or any other topic you specify. Our librarians provide comprehensive literature searches. Prior to utilizing our Librarian Assisted Search service, we ask that students meet with a librarian to learn database searching strategies.

The Library places books on physical reserve with limited borrowing terms at the request of faculty members. In addition, links to the Library's online subscriptions for articles, e-books and book chapters are built into reading lists provided via Canvas courses.
