Research Assistance

Database Search Requests

The library can accept search requests from Rush faculty and staff.  Librarians cannot conduct searches for students and are instead encouraged to schedule a meeting with a librarian. Information on research topic, relevant search terms, and any exclusion criteria (i.e. types of studies) are encouraged to help guide the search.

Results can be delivered in the following formats:

  • A reproducible search strategy (MeSH terms and database-specific search string)
  • RefWorks (Shared folder)
  • List of PMIDs (PubMed ID numbers; PubMed searches only)
  • RIS format (for importing into any reference manager i.e. Zotero)
  • Bibliography

How to Request a Database Search

To request a database search, please fill out our Ask a Question form, or email library@rush.edu.

Please note a minimum one week notice is often required. Urgent searches are prioritized before other searches and require the approval of the library director. Though we will make every effort to return your results within the indicated timeframe, we cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about reference services for faculty/staff are answered on the library's FAQ and help topic page. Have questions or need assistance? Fill out the library's Ask a Question form.
