Scopus

This is an introduction to the different features in the Scopus database.

Exporting Formats

Scopus allows users to select various exporting file formats. Those formats include:

  • CSV - this provides a spreadsheet. This can be very useful in quickly reviewing the chosen citations, as the full abstract is available for quick perusal.
  • RIS - RIS stands for Research Information Systems. This is a format commonly used to export database search results to citation mangers such as Covidence, RefWorks, Endnotes, Zotero, or Mendeley.
  • BibTex - this will download a file compatible with LaTeX Editor
  • Plain text - this will download a text file with the metadata of the selected articles(s)

How to Export

Once you have performed your search, you will need to identify the articles you wish to export. This can be done by selecting articles individually or multiple at a time.

1.After identifying the articles, you wish to export, you will click "Export"

2. Next is where you can also select to export all results. You will also be asked to choose what format you wish your exports to be in. If you're unsure of which one to choose, check out Exporting Formats. Once you have made the appropriate selection(s), you can click it.

3. This will open a pop-up window that will allow you select the information you wish to export. It is recommended to select all.

This should successfully download your file in your desired format!

Exporting for RefWorks

RefWorks is a citation management system that allows users to collect, manage and organize research papers and documents.  You can read, annotate, organize, and cite your research as well as collaborate with friends and colleagues by sharing collections. For more information, check out our RefWorks Guide.

To export a file for RefWorks, you will wan to make you are exporting in "PubMed" file format. You will then follow the steps for How to Export.

Once your file has been downloaded, you can follow these steps to get your export into RefWorks:

  1. In RefWorks, create a folder for the project (if you haven’t already).
  2. Click the + sign at the top left and choose "other file type"
  3. See the bar that reads  "Drop file here or select a file from your computer"?  Drag and drop the folder icon, or find the file in your Downloaded file and drag that over and drop it into the bar.
  4. Here you can select what folder (if any) to add citations to.
  5. Citations should have been successfully uploaded!
