Options

The Zotero Word Plug-in is used to create in-text citations. This plug-in is automatically installed when Zotero is installed. When it is installed, you will see "Zotero" as an option in Word's toolbar. To begin using Zotero for in-text citations, click the word "Zotero."

 

That will open up a set of options to the left of the toolbar, as shown below. Now put your cursor where you need the citation to go and dlick "Add/Edit Citation."

This brings up a list of selected citations that also has a search bar to allow you to search for additional citations. Select the correct citation and hit Enter. The citation, properly formatted, will be inserted into your paper. 

Creating a set of References

You can create a list of references used in your paper by clicking the "Add/Edit Bibliography" button.
