PubMed is the free public interface to the database MEDLINE, created by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). PubMed comprises more than 32 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links directly to full-text content.
To access PubMed, use a link on the library's home page or https://library.rush.edu/pubmed. Keep in mind that while PubMed is available to everyone, it will not provide links to RUSH's subscriptions unless you use a link on this site or complete the steps to select RUSH as one of your Outside Tool libraries on the My NCBI page.

PubMed Central® (PMC) is very similar to PubMed. It is a smaller collection of citations for free biomedical and life sciences literature. However, we recommend that you do not rely on PMC. As a RUSH associate, you have access to many journals, books and other media that can be found in PubMed - but as they are a paid subscription, you will not find them in PubMed Central.
