Welcome to Rush University!

Welcome to the Library of Rush University Medical Center! We are here to support you in your academic journey. This guide is intended to help you get set up and highlight some library resources that can facilitate your life as a student. Rush Library can offer you a wealth of resources and services to enhance your learning and research experience.

As a Rush University student, you have access to:

  • Millions of e-journals and articles
  • Hundreds of databases
  • Borrowing books from Rush and 100+ academic and institutional libraries across Illinois (I-share)
  • Silent and collaborative study spaces on the fifth and seventh floors of the Armour Academic Center
  • Computer lab, copier, and printer
  • Scheduling group and individual appointments with librarians to guide you through a literature search for coursework or project
  • Citation management systems (i.e. RefWorks, Covidence)
  • Tools to aid with clinical decision support and information (i.e. UpToDate, JoVE, VisualDx)

Library Access

The Rush University Medical Center Library is located in Suite 571 on the fifth floor of the Armour Academic Center. Public spaces within the library are accessible 24/7 to all RUMC staff, faculty, and students with a valid ID badge.

Off Campus Access

As a student, you can check out books and other library materials and use the Library’s online resources off-campus. Students may access most library resources (e.g., PubMed, CINAHL, eBooks, ILLiad, etc.) from off campus with their Rush single sign-on (SSO) username and password. These are the same credentials you use for your Rush email (@rush.edu), your on-campus PC, the University Portal, and My Apps. For more information check out Off Campus Access.

Staffed Hours

Although the library is open 24/7, it is not staffed 24/7. Below are our staffed hours.

Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Saturday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Library Space

The Rush University Medical Center Library is located in Suite 571 on the fifth floor of the Armour Academic Center. 

  • Computers, printers, and circulation desk located on the 5th floor  
  • Collaborative spaces (AAC 791; up the stairs from the library's fifth floor)
  • Quiet individual study spaces (AAC 787; entrance is northeast of the seventh floor elevator hallway)
  • Group study rooms are available at the north and south ends of the library's 7th floor study spaces. Study rooms contain tables, chairs, and whiteboards.
  • Study rooms are currently first-come, first-served. We will soon be launching a room reservation service.
