How to Import and Cite Your References in RefWorks

In this section we will review how to import your references from the library databases to RefWorks. As well as how to cite your references using RefWorks, and creating your bibliography.

What is RefWorks?

RefWorks is a citation management system that allows users to collect, manage and organize research papers and documents.  You can read, annotate, organize, and cite your research as well as collaborate with friends and colleagues by sharing collections. SImilar to EndNote, Mendeley or Zotero, the library provides and supports RefWorks for all RUSH affiliates.

Users can:

  • import citations from databases such as PubMed, CINAHL and Scopus.  RefWorks provides a centralized holding place for these citations.
  • import PDFs;  RefWorks will read the metadata associated with thay PDF to create a citation for it
  • create a bibliography of those imported citations with just two clicks of your mouse
  • assist with in-text citations
