To check to see if an article is from an authoritative source, you can do several things.
1) check the author's credentials: Go into Scopus, click on Authors and locate the author in question, Is this their first published article, or have they been published many time in reputable publications? Scopus is a major biomedical database. The link to it can be found on the library webpage (right underneath PubMed) or try this link: https://www-scopus-com.ezproxy.rush.edu/search/form.uri?display=basic
2) check the publication: Go into Incites, locate the publication and see if it is peer-reviewed. There is a link to Incites on the library homepage, or try this link: https://jcr-clarivate-com.ezproxy.rush.edu/JCRLandingPageAction.action?Init=Yes&SrcApp=IC2LS&SID=H3-MoMdeUxxuVLtewBa883tyfYMeUzCPH2eA-18x2dYrF0NsT7QMQeA24DqhpckAx3Dx3DS2cRNf1CMu970wjx2BTEGqbgx3Dx3D-03Ff2gF3hTJGBPDScD1wSwx3Dx3D-cLUx2FoETAVeN3rTSMreq46gx3Dx3D
