COVID-19 Science Literature Searching Guide

Google Scholar

Google Scholar is Google's collection of "scholarly articles."  It is easy to use, although there are a few things to know to maximize your search.

Suggested search string for Google Scholar:

allintitle: (coronavirus OR "2019 nCoV" OR "2019 novel" OR "2019 nCoV" OR "2019 nCoV" OR CoV OR "COVID 19" OR COVID19 OR "COVID 19" OR ncov OR "SARS CoV2" OR "SARS CoV 2" OR "severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2")

Explanation of the above search string:

Copy and paste the search string above into a Google Scholar Search box.

To search for a specific topic, add your search terms as shown in the example below:

allintitle: remdesivir (coronavirus OR "2019 nCoV" OR "2019 novel" OR "2019 nCoV" OR "2019 nCoV" OR CoV OR "COVID 19" OR COVID19 OR "COVID 19" OR ncov OR "SARS CoV2" OR "SARS CoV 2" OR "severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2")

"allintitle:" limits the results to those in which your search terms show up only in the title.  If you wish to do a deeper search, eliminate this phrase.

Feel free to alter the terms for coronavirus.

Google Scholar has a 256 character limit in its search box.  It does count spaces in the character count.  The above search string has 224 characters, without remdesivir.  This means you have to restrict your topic search terms to about 30 characters.
