Using UpToDate at RUSH

All RUSH University System for Health personnel can use their RUSH single sign-on (SSO) account to access UpToDate. RUSH uses Microsoft Azure SSO for UpToDate. Please note that UpToDate does not use OpenAthens authentication at Rush. Selecting the OpenAthens option will result in an error message. 

Depending on how you reach UpToDate, you may be presented with slightly different options for invoking RUSH's authentication.

• If you follow an UpToDate link on the library's home page or another RUSH site, you will be redirected to Rush's sign-in page automatically. If you already have an active single sign-on session, you will not be prompted to sign in again, and will simply be redirected to UpToDate.
   
• If you reach an UpToDate login page another way, you can enter your RUSH email address in the Username blank and click Continue. UpToDate will recognize you as a RUSH user based on your rush.edu email domain. Please note that you cannot enter other forms of your RUSH username.
  
   
• If you are accessing the UpToDate site from on campus, or in a browser where you have used UpToDate in the past (but did not use a link on a RUSH site), you can select Sign in with RUSH. 
  
   
• If you are off campus, if you have recently cleared your browser settings, or if you are signing in for the first time in a new browser, you may not see the Sign In with RUSH option. In this case, select the Sign in with Microsoft option.
  
   
• If the Microsoft option is not immediately visible, you may need to search for it by selecting Sign In Another Way and then typing "Microsoft" into the "Search for your Organization or Provider to Sign in" blank.
