METC: Equipment Loan Policy

When you reserve equipment, it is a temporary hold. We will email a contract to you; you have 12 hours to reply with the word “accept” this will act as your signature to the contract. If you do not reply, we will assume you don’t need it and will cancel the equipment.

EX: If today is Monday at 9 a.m. and you are asking for the equipment for Tuesday at 4 p.  the contract will be sent out the same day and your 12hrs will begin.

EX: If today is a Friday at 9 a.m. and you need the equipment on Monday at 7 a.m., we will still send out the contract, but if Monday arrives and it is 8 a.m. the equipment will be canceled.

This is because we have very limited resources and other patrons might need them. If you reply accepting the terms it guarantees that during the time frame that you need the equipment, we will do everything in our power for you to have it. There is still a slight chance that the previous person that may have your equipment might not return it and they will be charged for it.

The policy on laptops (plus all other equipment except Microphones/ Webcams/Phone Chargers/994A&B Kits/Keyboards/Calculators & Headsets) is a 48-hour checkout with a 24-hour break in between checkouts and if it is available.

(Ex: Check out a laptop on a Monday at 9 a.m. it is due on Wed at 9 a.m., you cannot borrow a laptop on Thursday you will need to wait until Friday before checking out another one.) We also have contracts which if you bring it back late you will get a fine.

Fines amounts vary and will be included in the contract that you sign.

Microphones, Webcams, and Room 994 Kit Policy

Microphones, webcams, and 994A & 994B A/V Kits can only be reserved for the length of your class.

Ex: If your class is from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. it would need to be back at noon, or you will get a fine. Please take this into consideration and reserve maybe to 12:15 p.m. this way it gives you a little extra time, so you don’t face a fine. Also, take into consideration that if your class starts at 5 p.m. and you want the equipment at 9 a.m. we will not be able to give it to you because other patrons might need it.

If your class starts before we open, you may ask to see if you can pick it up the day before. Please keep in mind if the room you need the mics in, does not end until 5 pm that is the earliest we can get it to you.

If you would like to reserve the 539, 540, 976, or 450 microphones for the entire term, NOT the entire year we do have an option for that. This option is a new feature we are trying to see if it will work or not. If you need a microphone in one of these 4 rooms with additional cables, we will not be able to book the cable for the entire term. Refer to the “Reserving Policy Section.”

EX: If you need room 539 microphone on Jan 15 from 10a – 2 pm and again on Feb 15 from 10a – 2 pm, this will not be a problem to do. If you need a cable with the microphone we will only be able to do half of your order because we only have very limited resources of equipment.

EX: If you need room 539 microphone and a cable for Jan 15 from 10a – 2pm that would be no problem. If you need the microphone in Feb and a cable that is where the issue will be, you will need to wait until the last week of Jan to book the microphone and cable together.

Phone Chargers and Marker Kits

Phone chargers and dry-erase markers, it is a 5-hour checkout and must be returned before the end of the business day.

Reserving Policy

Students, Faculty & Staff can reserve equipment with a valid Rush student ID or employee badge. Contractors may not check out equipment.

Patrons can reserve equipment by phone at 312-563-2527, email at 3clas@rush.edu, or in person. We are located on the 9th floor in the AAC Building in room 915.

Please keep in mind if you have never checked out equipment (or if it has been a while) the process may take up to 10 minutes. We will need to add you to our records and prepare your contract and equipment.

Please note that we only book equipment for the current month.

Ex: If today is January 15th we can only accept reservations for the remainder of the month of January. We do not book anything in February until the last week of the month we are in. This also means you cannot book a piece of equipment for the entire month; please refer to the Equipment Policy.

All equipment except Microphones/Webcams/Phone Chargers/994A&B Kits/Keyboards/Calculators & Headsets) If you reserve equipment on a Thurs the equipment will be due on Monday.

Starting on Tues Jan 3rd, 2023, if you reserve equipment on a Friday, it will be due on Tuesday for most equipment.
